A market in Port Vila that you need to visit!

A trip to Port Vila wouldn’t be complete without visiting the incredible Haos Blong Handikraft, a special space dedicated to selling authentic Vanuatu handicrafts.

It’s a fascinating place, a treat for the senses. Stalls upon stalls of beautifully crafted, local treasures from the Ni Vanuatu people.

There is wood carving, trinkets and souvenirs, lovely memories you can take back with you when your holiday is (sadly) over. One thing you will notice when you peruse the stalls, is the variety of weaves found in the baskets. A lady’s weave depends on how, and where she was brought up.

You will find Haos Blong Handikraft on the foreshore of Port-Villa in town. Our tip, the markets are cash only, so make sure you bring local currency, or even get your Aussie dollars swapped in town.

To top it all off, many of the vendors have a handy little book that will tell you if their products can be brought back into Australia, so there will be no awkward customs encounters when you get back home.
