Dugong

When our crew was on Fraser Island recently our cameraman launched his drone and took what we thought was a pretty awesome shot of a dugong swimming around the breakers.

We took this vision along to Dr Merrick Ekins, who’s a Collection Manager at Queensland Museum. He knows quite a bit about our dugong population and was happy to shed some light on what we saw, as well as share some vision of his own.

The Queensland Museum dugong models have joined its brand new exhibition called Wild State. It’s a gallery dedicated to our most fascinating native animal, and admission is free.
