Hervey Bay Seafood Festival

The annual Hervey Bay Seafood Festival is rolling around soon on August 14, 2016. Andrew Mirosch will be there again this year cooking up a special menu with local seafood including some barramundi.

There are just three licensed commercial operators who fish for barramundi in the Mary River.

Kevin Greenhalgh is the fifth generation in a Hervey Bay fishing family, with his son making up the sixth. Andrew catches up with Kevin to see what goes into catching the barra we all love to eat.

If you’re into your fishing then you need to add Hervey Bay to that list of places to wet a line. Offshore, inshore and estuary options will have you hanging around the Fraser Coast for a lot more than just a couple of days.

Qantaslink can get you there with flights from Brisbane to Hervey Bay several times a day.

Akama Resort can get you sorted with a self-contained apartment while you’re in town. And if you give them a call and mention Creek to Coast they can look after you with a discounted Whale Watch and accommodation package in August and September.
