Setting up the Perfect Tinnie

What beats an afternoon of fishing in your local waterways? Doing it in your new tinnie. Young gun, Cameron is from the Sunshine Coast, and he is living that dream. We headed out on the Maroochydore River with him, to spend the afternoon chasing the local bread and butter species.

We timed our trip carefully to coincide with the tide. It was expected to come in that evening, so as the water began to move in, so did the bait fish. You know what that means? Feeding time for the GTs, golden trevally and jewfish.

With the help of Cameron’s new sounder, we could spot where the fish were. Once we pulled out the light spin gear, we were hooking juvenile GTs and a golden trevally.

This type of afternoon on the water is perfect for young fishos like Cameron. He’s just upgraded his tinnie so he can get more out of his fishing trips. His new electric motor and sounder are also great additions to the boat.

If you’re like Cameron and just got a new boat, make sure it’s insured before you take it out on the water. The great thing about Youi watercraft insurance is that they’ll take the time on the phone with you to understand how you’ve setup your tinny so that you can give yourself the right cover.
