Fishing for many people is more than just a pastime or a hobby, it’s a full blown addiction that must be seen to rain, hail or shine. Well for those that fall into this category you’ll be pleased to know that there is a scratch to take care of that itch – Suncoast Barra Fishing Park in Bli Bli on the Sunshine Coast.
The park, which is somewhat of an institution on the Sunshine Coast, has 3 lakes filled to the brim with 12 different varieties of fish, estuary cod, mangrove jack, jew and of course – the mighty Barramundi.
It is a perfect venue for those not only that don’t own a boat but for the first time fisherman, big or small. Parents have been bringing their children to Suncoast for the last decade as it’s one of those rare places where they are virtually guaranteed to catch their first fish. The park is a catch and release facility which means it will never be fished out.
Although the big draw card of the park, besides the opportunity of landing a Barramundi is the price. For the price of a two hour movie and popcorn, you can entertain your kids for an entire day – $20 for kids under 15 and a full day for an adult will only set you back $35.
If you don’t own a fishing rod, fear not, you can hire all your gear there $10 for rods and a tub of pellets is just $2.50.
Suncoast Barra Fishing Park is truly a ‘’have your cake and eat it too’’ as you can take care of your fishing fix and the kids are entertained all day for as little as twenty bucks.
