A beach camping trip without the crowds! Sounds too good to be true!
We’re still asking ourselves, why haven’t we explored more of Seventeen Seventy and Agnes Water? Sparkling beaches, stunning headlands, long stretches of sand, rockstar camping sites – this place has got it all.
About an hour south of Agnes Water you’ll find Deepwater National Park, something that totally blew us away when we were there filming a recent ep of Creek to Coast. If you’re looking to go right off the radar, Middle Rock camp ground is our pick with a toilet block, fresh water showers and a 200 metre walk to out of this world views. Sit high on the sand dune and watch a new day rise and have it all to yourself. Queensland Parks and Wildlife have been keeping this one close to their chest – it’s a winner in our books.
If you’re into your creature comforts, a stay at the Captain Cook Holiday Park is a must. Not too far away from town, a stone’s throw from the 1770 Marina and more than two acres to pitch your tent, roll out a swag or back up a caravan. They’ve also got their own private track that backs onto secluded surfing beaches too!
Looking for something to do – how’s kayak crabbing sound? Catch a feed while taking in the stunning scenery of the Round Hill Creek with Kayak Fish 1770. Guide, Scotty Hornsby will show you the best spots to bag a big 1770 muddie, or if you’re keen on a flick, guided lure fishing tours chasing flatties, bream or grunter are the go too!
Hot tip – visit the Here and There Espresso Van parked out the front of the YHA on Captain Cook Drive for one of the best coffees in town. Bonus if you’re into dogs, give ‘Sharon’ their Wolfhound cross Kelpie a pat!
And of course, a camping trip is not complete without a trip to your local BCF. Cooking a feast? Try this Gasmate Deluxe stove that pumps out the heat! Setting up camp? Get comfy in the XTM double swag!
Keep your drinks ice cold in the Engel padded cooler and kick back and watch the sun set in the Wanderer Premium Cooler Arm chair. This is Agnes Water bliss.
