Rainbow Beach is a top spot when it comes to fishing. It’s an anglers dream thanks to the vast array of species in the area. The team from Keely Rose Deep Sea Fishing Charters knows exactly where to find them. It’s never a dull day out with Ed and his crew.
This time of year, we’re heading out to catch some dolphin fish and perhaps some bottom fish like pearl perch.
To kick things off, Ed knows a great spot around a F.A.D. Perfect for dollies. While they love their live bait, it’s great to nail a few with stickbaits to kick things off. If they’re sinking stickies, give them a couple of counts to dop down and then wind to make them move quickly across the top. If a fish has interest, don’t drop your speed, otherwise the fish can lose interest. Dolphin fish are a predatory fish that love to hunt so maintaining that pace is a must.
Once they quieten down on the stick baits, you can get things going again with live bait. You can also go a bit of pilchard. There’s nothing like fishing for dolphin fish. They’re a good size, very visual and love a bit of aerial display. Best of all, dolphin fish are great to eat and a lot of fun on the line.
Keely Rose Deep Sea Fishing Charters found us a great spot for some pearl perch. Even better, skipper Ed (or Ed “Pearlie” as the crew sometimes call him) let us in on a little secret. Soft Plastic Lures are the way to go when catching ‘pearlies.” Especially the white ones that resemble squid. There’s something about them that these fish love. We’ve got the footage to prove it! Drop them down and then hop them up through the water, letting them flutter down again. “Pearlies” will come up and grab them as they drop.
You can’t beat a ‘placcie” when bagging a pearl perch. Just like you can’t go wrong with Keely Rose Deep Sea Fishing Charters when fishing rainbow and you can’t go passed BCF for everything you need!
