If you love your fishing, but want to dodge the crowded waterways around south east Queensland, why not duck down south? Wooli is a sleepy little town a couple hours from the border. This sleepy hollow offers a tranquil retreat from the hustle and bustle and is an outdoor paradise. It attracts avid anglers all year round, and it’s easy to see why.
The waterways around here are part of the Solitary Islands Marine Park. It offers a huge variety of marine life. It is protected, so check before you fish. When you do get out on the water in Wooli, you’ll find oysters, mud-crabs, and plenty of other species. Base yourself at Wooli River Lodges. Aside from comfy beds, a swimming pool and barbeque areas, guests have access to standup paddle boards, kayaks and canoes. Stay in one of the nine lodges or the main house. This house is perfect for families or bigger groups of fishermen. It sleeps nine people and has all the amenities you need for a longer trip. Geoff runs the accommodation and says the best part of his job is, “the staff I work with. We’ve got a fantastic team that come in and we all work well together,” and of course, “meeting the people that come here.” |
