Adventuring Straddie with Isuzu

Having access to a reliable four wheel drive can allow you to discover places you may never have known existed.

North Stradbroke Island is a great spot to visit, with land and sand adventures on offer. It’s about an hour ferry ride from Cleveland to Dunwich and once you’re on the island, there’s plenty to discover!

If you’re looking for the right set of wheels to get you around, then you can’t go past the Isuzu D-MAX. It’s both an on and off road performer, taking you from the bush to the beach, and everywhere in between. The vehicle also has 3.5 tonne towing capacity, so it’ll pull trailers, caravans and boats with ease.

Once you arrive at Dunwich, you can grab yourself a coffee at one of the cafes that line the streets. Main Beach is about a 20-minute drive from Dunwich and is home to one of the island’s hidden gems.

The Keyholes are a series of crystal clear lakes, said to be left over from the sand mining days. It’s about an hour walk along the beach and over the dunes from Main Beach, but if you’ve got access to a four wheel drive, it’s an easy 5 kilometre drive along the sand. You will need to organise yourself a beach permit through Minjerribah Camping for beach driving.

As an Isuzu owner, you’ll have access to the I-Venture Club which allows you to sign up for off road adventures that will take you to some of Australia’s most incredible four wheel drive destinations! You’ll travel with other adventure enthusiasts and qualified 4×4 instructors who will not only show you the sights, but teach you the necessary skills to handle any terrain.
