Lake Borumba is just 5 minutes down the road from Imbil in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.
It’s an ideal place for fishermen, boaties or families to come for the day to escape the hustle and bustle of the sunny coast.
Borumba, like all other Seqwater impoundments, are constantly under the scrutiny of water quality control officers like Cameron Veal.
Seqwater officers test the water regularly, and they are primarily looking for Blue Green Algae. The process is simple. Firstly, samples are taken from a depth of 5 meters, bottled up, and sent to a lab where scientists count the number of algal cells to determine the concentration.
