Travelling from Longreach to Yeppoon by caravan

First stop is Barcaldine Homestead Caravan Park, for billy tea and damper and take our host’s advice and visit the Tree of Knowledge at night.

Our next stop is Emerald, welcomed with red claw pizza and a frosty beer, you can find it all at Lake Maraboon Holiday Village, right on the lake with everything you need to kick back and relax or fish for your own red claw or barra. Our gracious host, John, recommends visiting Pats Gems: fossicking for sapphires is profitable and a fun past time. Closer to the action of Emerald is Emerald Cabin and Caravan Village, host Denis recommends the amazing lamb shank and Guinness pie at The Irish Village pub.

On our way to Yeppoon we have a surprise for Scotty, joining the kids to become a Junior Zoo Keeper at Cooberrie Park Wildlife Sanctuary. Our choice of accommodation for the night is Discovery Parks – Coowaters Yeppoon and what a spot, right on the shores of Mulambin Creek with Shoal Bay just across the way. The park also has waterslides, jumping pillows, go carts, lots to wear out the big and little kids.
