Discover the Brisbane Valley by Caravan

Caravanning, it’s a way of life – it’s a lifestyle that allows you to get up and get out to explore this magical country of ours. With so many places to explore – many within a couple hours drive of most regional centres – a weekend getaway with a caravan is becoming increasingly popular.

On our little adventure to the Brisbane Valley, we first stopped in to one mighty delightful caravan Park – the NRMA Lake Somerset Holiday Park – a great getaway not too far from Kilcoy, north of Brisbane.

Being on the banks of the Somerset, there’s so many things to do here – fishing for bass, sure thing – they caught the world record for it here recently, tick. Kayaking – take a leisurely paddle out to the middle of the Lake and take in the bloody fantastic views. Or how about just kicking back in one of the great accommodation options – cabins, freeform camping or relaxing at a powered site.

Only an hour north/west of Brisbane, the region is also known as the Valley of the Lakes, with Lake Wivenhoe (two and a half times the size of Sydney Harbour) and Lake Somerset only a short drive from the Caravan Park, providing for all manner of water related activities.

The caravan park is located away from the highway in a quiet and peaceful parkland setting. Boasting mountain views, a creek boundary, animal and bird life. Situated within easy walking distance to restaurants and shops. They offer large powered and unpowered camping sites and budget self-contained park cabins with or without ensuites.

One of the biggest attractions to Esk is the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail. Conveniently located right next to the Esk Caravan park, it’s a 161km trail that links Ipswich to Yarraman. The former trail line is now a magnet for hikers, bikers and horseriders.
