There is a way you can enjoy breakfast on the Gold Coast, lunch overlooking the Southern Great Barrier Reef and be back in time for dinner at the Goldie again that night!
Seair flies daily to Lady Elliot Island – a coral cay that sits about 80km north east of Bundaberg. The scenic flight from the Gold Coast alone is worth it. Straddie, Moreton Bay and Fraser Island look incredible from the air and that’s before you even descend on beautiful Lady Elliot itself.
Once you get there, the glass bottom boat will have you itching to jump in the water with fins, mask and snorkel. The marine life here is renowned internationally, with PADI rating the island as the number one spot in the world for manta rays.
You’ll also spot plenty of turtles and fish amongst the coral.
If you can’t get enough, you visit the lagoon and feed the fish as well. After a buffet lunch of hot and cold food, there’s time for one more marine life encounter with a reef walk tour. You’ll never want to leave, but it goes to show you can experience the Great Barrier Reef in a day!
