Get prepped for the perfect day!

Hitting the beach and camping makes for the ideal day (or two or three). When it comes to towing a camper on the sand, you can’t go past the Isuzu D-MAX! It has all the safety functions to ensure you can just focus on the road and journey ahead. With a pulling power of up to 3.5 tonnes, it can also handle any terrain you might tackle, not just the sand.

There are many great beaches to explore across Queensland. The east side of Bribie Island offers a stunning location which is fantastic for beach fishing. You’ll need a permit to drive on the beach, and another for camping but once that is sorted, you’re away. Free to explore the beach, stay in the night (or more) in a fantastic camping location and throw a line in to snag a flathead or whiting.

Once you have some fresh catch, why not prepare Ben’s tasty fish “hot dogs.” Cook these on the beach and you are bound to win over any of your mates. It doesn’t matter the species, Ben guarantees that as long as it’s fresh and prepared as he suggests, you could even get away with some dart. All you need is brioche buns, mayo, herbs, lemon and lime (for the tartar) and anything else you’d like on your “hot dogs.”

To prepare your own tempura batter, you’ll also need:

70 grams of corn flour

30 grams of plain flour

Beer or soda water

Crushed ice

1 egg white

Mix all the dry ingredients together in a bowl. Put the egg white in a separate bowl and whisk until peaks form. Add the soda water or beer to the dry mix and whisk. Be sure not to over whisk as the lumps are good. Fold through the egg whites and add the crushed ice and it’s ready for the fish.

Once you’ve towed your camper successfully on the beach, thrown a line in and caught some fish, and prepared Ben’s fish “hot dogs,” you will be more than prepped for the perfect day (or many)!
