Mackay is More than Mining!

People think of Mackay as being a mining town but there’s more to it than meets the eye.

In the words of Karen Nelson, Managing Director of Lanai Apartments – “We’ve got some fantastic fishing experiences back to nature. You know, you’ve only got to go just up the road and you can feed the wallabies on the beach at Cape Hillsborough.

You can go down to the Sugar Shed and take a tour through a working Sugar mill. We’ve got the Pioneer River, a beautiful blue river right outside our doorstep.

You’ve got the Cable park- that’s an incredible place and we’re getting to see a lot of experienced people come through and use it, but it’s also great for families that want to try a different sport at the same time.

Or perhaps if you’re going for a walk to our restaurants here at nighttime, go through the lanes and there’s a lot of beautiful art on display at the same time. Or if you’re culturally minded, we’ve got the art space centre and there are a lot of travelling exhibitions that come through from time to time.”

When visiting Mackay, there’s only one option of where to stay – the Lanai Apartments are centrally located (next to the Canelands Shopping Centre). Beautifully appointed and huge rooms, there’s a reason why people who return to Mackay only stay here!!
