If you find yourself stuck for ideas on how to get the kids outside enjoying and learning more about the natural environment, sign them up for Nature Play, an initiative from the Queensland Outdoor Recreation Federation.
The idea behind Nature Play is to tick off outdoor adventure missions in a passport; like pitching a tent, building a garden, trying bush tucker, and bird watching.
You can pick up a Passport from a registered Nature Play provider like Mt Barney Lodge, and create a profile online. The website lets kids create their own avatar and write up reports on their missions.
Mt Barney Lodge have heaps of activities for kids to get involved with – give them a call to find out when they’re holding their next Nature Play session with guide Innes Larkin. Or to tick off one of the camping missions on your own, book in for weekend away at their camping grounds.
To get yourself kitted out for a camping adventure, head into BCF. They have a range of products to suit any budget, and their friendly staff can help you pick out a tent that’s easy to set up, pack down, and sleeps the entire family.
