Own a Piece of Boating History

Ever dreamed of taking your boating life home?

With an entire section dedicated to maritime treasures, Grand Ideas Salvage Emporium in Brisbane’s Northgate is home to off grid finds!

From old ropes and nets to pulleys, hatches and more, you can take home a piece of fishing history for yourself. They’ve featured old fishing reels, port holes, life buoys, boat steering wheels, sinker boards and plenty of other artefacts from boating lives of the past. There’s plenty of art and replica boats too and the best part is the items are all one of a kind.

The Salvage Emporium makes it easy (and tempting) to add a nautical theme to any room.

Owner Paul Norris said these days it’s all about using these old materials for different purposes – hanging up port holes or life buoys as artwork for example.

“Back in the 70s and 80s it was all about restoration,” said Paul. “Now it’s about giving these things another life.”

Stock changes daily, so we encourage a visit to the Emporium to see what exactly is on offer at the time.

Opening hours are from Wednesday to Sunday, 10am to 4pm but Paul is happy to offer other times for viewing by appointment.
