Pittwater Kayak Tours

Mike Whitney is certainly a household name, and woven into the threads of Seven’s television landscape. From Gladiators and Who Dares Wins, to nowadays hosting the long running lifestyle show, Sydney Weekender. But hark back to the 80s, and Mike was first and foremost, an Australian fast bowler.

Mike’s foray into the Australian Cricket Team was very fortuitous.

“I actually went over to play some league cricket in the Lancashire League and ended up signing a contract with Gloucester, and the Australian team was touring 1981…During one of those games for Gloucester I got this phone call saying you’ve been picked to play for Australia, the test match started the next day, the 5th test at Old Trafford …look I think about it now it’s like a dream, I roomed with Dennis Lillee. now Dennis in my day and still is, he was just God yunno”

Mike’s love of all things New South Wales, as well as his dream job of hosting Sydney Weekender, has taken him all over the state. Today, he shares the beautiful Pittwater area with Nathan Reardon.

For anyone with a love for the water, Pittwater is your spot. Dozens of islands are surrounded with deep blue water, all with boats moored up, enjoying their surrounds. Mike and Nath decide to change it up, enlisting the help of Greg Moran from Pittwater Kayak tours. The boys jump into a couple of kayaks, and head for a half hour paddle across to Resolute beach.

Greg caters for all ages and experience levels on his tours, so if you’re in the Pittwater area, and wanting to explore this beautiful part of the world by paddle, give him a call.
