The Brisbane Valley Rail Trail is a great facility for hikers, cyclists or even those that prefer hoof power. The trail runs all the way from Wulkuraka station out to Yarraman, a distance of close to 160km.
Today, Dean has a chat with Paul Heymans, from the BVRT Users Association as they complete a ride into Esk. The trail crosses a few creeks as well as riding past a couple of reminders of the rail track that used to service the area.
The cyclists love to use the Esk Caravan Park as a base for their expeditions, and owner Paul Lawson is only too happy to oblige. The park offers a whole spread of accommodation options, ranging from unpowered sites to deluxe spa villas. And a great facility to cook up a few pizzas.
Caravanning Queensland has a great list of Tourist Parks in the South Burnett region that’ll give you plenty of options to explore for a bit of time away from home.
