Carp and Tilapia are pest fish. They were first introduced to Australia as game fish. The exact date is unclear but they have since overpopulated our waterways, posing a major threat to our native fish.
Wyaralong Dam is the newest dam in South East Queensland and already these noxious fish are posing a problem.
The Logan and Albert Fish Management Association hold an annual Carp and Tilapia Fishing Competition in the hopes of reducing these pest fish.
It’s an event for all ages and a great way for the family to get out and enjoy some fishing!
