Scott visits Queensland’s biggest dam, the Burdekin Dam or Burdekin Falls Dam, about 200km south of Townsville.
The dam wall is 876 metres long, it has a 504-meter spillway and a drop of 37 meters. It has the capacity of four times that of Sydney Harbour.
There are two tunnels that run the length of the dam, it is like a movie set, a villain’s lair.
Part of our exclusive is one of the four floodgates opened to 100%, the power of the rushing water is mind-numbing.
SunWater wants to remind you that you need to say 200 meters away from the dam wall and stay outside the buoy line.
