Taking the new Vision Caravan down to Northern NSW

Between the sparkling Pacific beaches and lush volcanic hillsides lies the New South Wales north coast. It’s a 700km stretch that encompasses the beautiful coastline from the Hawkesbury… right up to where the New South Wales and Queensland border meet – a spot where many good journeys begin!

Our final destination for this trip was Brooms Head… about a 4-hour drive south of Brisbane and 30 minutes south of Yamba. You’ll discover some fantastic stops and scenery along the way… one of which kicks off at Evans Head.

Airforce Beach is a continuous 4.5km stretch of sand, accessible by 4WD. Access points can be found at Terrace Street, Evans Head and Boundary Creek Road, Broadwater. Good to note no permits are required.

Brooms Head Holiday Park is where we parked ourselves for the night with the Vision Caravan. It’s about one hour south of Evans Head. You just drive in, park your van at one of their sites and the entire beach is at your disposal.

This place is also one where generations of families have shared many memories over the years… perfect for winding down or heading out to see what their region has on offer.

If fishing is up your alley, then you’ll want to head out with Glynn from Yamba Fishing & Charters. He took us to a spectacular honey hole – and boy did it deliver. Two Kingfish, thank you! Dinner is sorted.

Back at camp and Scotty’s rule is to keep it simple – not many ingredients… just a bit of butter to heat the pan, cook the fish 2/3 through, then smear with a bit of sweet chilli sauce and some cheese to finish. Close the lid of the Weber, and let it melt and cook through. Yum.

If this has you keen to get out and explore somewhere new – then you’ll need a van to take you there. Check out Vision RV at the upcoming Let’s Go Queensland Caravan & Camping Supershow. You’ll find them at site 2735 at the Brisbane Showgrounds from June 2-7, 2021.
