The ultimate Father’s Day Straddie Holiday

Who out there has a Father who is impossible to buy for, come Father’s Day?

Well forget the socks and jocks and consider a weekend away under the canvas.

There are plenty of spots in Queensland that tick the awesome campsite box, but for something “overseas” why not give Minjerribah, or North Stradbroke Island a go? Whether you stay south around Dunwich or head north to Point Lookout, you’ll be spoilt for choices as to where to stay, play and eat!

The beach camps at Flinders Beach are a great spot if you want to get offroad. Awesome big sites, big enough for our Wild Boar Camper, right on the beach. Can’t get better. As for a few activities to keep Dad interested, well just ask Barefoot Dave of Straddie Kingfisher Tours. From Four-wheel drive training to kayak tours, sandboarding and beach fishing, Dave can cater an active day on Straddie for you and your dad.

If beach fishing is on the cards, you’ll be on the lookout for a few long gutters along any number of the beaches. We tried our luck just out the front of Flinders, and got lucky with a few dart and a beautiful example of a Straddie whiting.

As for a feed, Kieron, the Quandamooka Chef has you sorted. Yalabin Dining is an initiative of Kieron’s, basically an immersive dining experience with an indigenous twist. Trust us, he does a mean take on pan-fried whiting!

For all these awesome operators and more, Visit Redlands Coast is where you should head.
