Teenagers travel from all over Australia, as well as South Africa, USA, New Zealand, Tahiti and Japan, to be a part of the Billabong Occy’s Grom Comp.
Its name honours former world surfing champion Mark ‘Occy’ Occhilupo, whose son Jay is a hot contender. The Gold Coast student took out the U12 division three years ago, and has been training hard for this year’s event.
