Us Aussies are spoilt for choices when it comes to our nation’s fisheries. Over all his time on the show, Scotty has had the privilege to fish all over the country, and has racked up some pretty impressive captures in doing so.
It was only a few years back when him and Olivia headed to South Australia to go toe to toe with a few beautiful big Tuna. They hooked up with GT Charters – GT stands for good times…and let us tell you that good times were had!
Being a Queensland boy, Scotty has fished extensively up and down the state’s coast. He has shared a few special moments with his boys on the show, fishing for the hugely exciting Queenfish off the Lucinda jetty. PLUS he has plenty of stories of wrestling BIG GT’s on the reef off Cairns and Townsville.
As much as we love the East Coast, Australia’s Western side has some of the most BEAUTIFUL waters, dare we say it, in the world. If you’re ever over there, can we recommend heading down to Fremantle and hooking up with Al from Shikari Charters to have your arms stretched by a few monstrous Sampson fish.
Finally, it’s not all about the salt. We recently headed over the border to NSW where Scotty was lucky enough to land a few XL Rainbow Trout! A gorgeous example of the caliber of freshwater fish the country has to offer. A reminder – trout do have a closed season, normally from around the end of May through to October. So check out the fisheries website if you have any concerns.
