Jayco’s purpose built off-road hybrid

Buying your first van is an exciting time. But, the choice between a camper trailer and caravan can be tough, they both have their own benefits! Let us run through some of the specifics…

While a trailer is compact and lighter, caravans are luxe and more comfortable. But what about the best of both worlds with a hybrid? Well, the Jayco CrossTrak offers just that… combining the practicality of a trailer with the extra benefits of a caravan!

On this particular day, Sammie hauled one up to a beautiful spot on the shores of Lake Cootharaba at Habitat Noosa. Josh from Brisbane Camperland came along to run her through the basics of setting up!

“The type of person looking at the CrossTrak is someone who is torn between buying a caravan and a camper trailer… they love the outdoors, they want to cook outside, and want to live outside, but want a comfy bed,” Josh said.

With setup time averaging at 5 minutes, the CrossTrak has covered every little detail you can think of… including a 55-litre fridge, a handy spot for your BBQ (if you have one), as well as the nifty outdoor kitchen area, which includes a stovetop. And it gets better… there’s an outdoor shower at the rear. Nothing beats a hot shower at the end of the day!

“You’d probably want a mid-size SUV to tow something like this… it does have off-road capabilities, which is a good thing about the CrossTrak. It’s got the J-Tech suspension, which Jayco developed themselves for their own products… and that suspension is a full independent suspension,” Josh said.

So, given the current times we’re in, if you’re thinking of getting out and taking a trip to support local tourism, the CrossTrak is a great starting point. It can be towed with a broad range of vehicles and is one of Jayco’s entry levels for their caravan range. See their website here for more details!
