MDC Flinders Beach

North Stradbroke Island is a cracking spot to escape the rat race. You can explore this beautiful sand island by four-wheel drive and camp right on the beach all while being a stone’s throw from a capital city and the trip across Moreton Bay from Brisbane on The Big Red Cat, is all part of the adventure.

You can travel around on sealed roads and set up at one of the campgrounds near the main towns of Amity Point, Dunwich or Point Lookout.

But if you prefer to engage four-wheel drive and head off road to set up camp, Flinders Beach at Straddie’s top end, offers 12 campsites tucked away in the sand dunes.

If you like to be remote without having to rough it, an off-road caravan is the perfect solution. MDC’s XT17-T off-road hybrid caravan is part of their expedition series and is outstanding at tackling beach conditions as it has fully independent wish bone trailing arm suspension, coil over shocks and tracks with the vehicle. Comfort is the name of the game as it sleeps a family of four in bunks and a good sized double bed. It’s also equipped with all the modcons, including a shower and toilet and great cooking facilities inside and out.

Market Direct Campers are Australia’s largest manufacturer of off-road vans and camper trailers. If you’re looking to invest in a new camper trailer, caravan or some camping gear then the full MDC range is online.
