Road Trip to the Green behind the Gold Coast

If you love a road trip that takes you from the beach to the bush,

then let us introduce you to the green behind the Gold Coast with 3 gorgeous sites from Hipcamp.

Jandarrah

Jandarra is a cracking campground nestled in Tallebudgera Valley, just 20minutes from the beach…but worlds away.

The 135-acre farm is one of the many unique properties you’ll find on Hipcamp.

The regenerative and certified eco-tourism location is home to cattle, chickens, local wildlife and up to 6 campers at a time.

Brooke from Hipcamp tested it out herself and said “There’s a couple of really fun things to do here, there’s an infrared sauna, it’s a regenerative farm, we can do a farm tour, we can sew a boomerang bag. But what I’m excited about the most is they’ve got the beautiful natural rockpool down in the valley.”

Jandarra means ‘place of peace’ and that’s certainly the case here. Guests can visit the private waterfall, take a self-guided walk through the rainforest, unwind in the sauna and enjoy a campfire under the stars.

If you’re not a camper, you can hire the set-up camper trailers, and simply rock up with your clothes and food.

Brooke from Hipcamp suggests putting another pin on your road-trip map:

Natural Bridge Retreat

This campground is an incredible “natural” experience…by name and by nature…

Natural Bridge Retreat is a slice of paradise, adjoining Lamington National Park.

Brooke says “Movies are filmed here, commercials are filmed here.

You might remember the Palmolive shampoo commercial back in the 80’s, where the lady was under the waterfall, that was filmed down here. It’s absolutely stunning.”

Pull up the van next to the beautiful creek that cascades through the property; pop up the tent at a magic swimming hole; or roll out the swag at a secluded waterfall escarpment.

Natural beauty is everywhere you look, and you can hike to the upper plateaus for another spectacular view.

Brooke’s tip is a shot trip to Natural Bridge at night to see the glow worms.

Next stop: the Scenic Rim…

Kingsland Camping

If hiking is your thing, then head further inland to Kingsland Camping, nestled at the base of Mt Maroon.

The ascent takes about an hour and a half each way with the mountain’s summit delivering stunning 360-degree views overlooking the Scenic Rim and McPherson Range.

There are plenty of easier walks in the area and so much to explore nearby! Or you could simply relax and take in the beautiful views and serenity.

“What I love about Hipcamp is that no two camps are the same. This one’s just really basic. Peace and quiet, no one else around.

Quite a popular tourist area, but we’ve got this place to ourselves. With this beautiful view.” Says Brooke.
