Sunny Days on Tweed River

A day on the water is just perfect for the soul and given where we live, you’re going to get more good days then bad and didn’t we pick an absolute beauty to head out on the Tweed River, a stunning expansive waterway which stretches from the bustling Tweed Heads to the peaceful Tumbulgum. The sun was out, not a cloud in the sky, there was a slight southerly breeze, water temperature a balmy 25 degrees – the water as crystal clear as it gets – we really do live in god’s country.  And my two kids Kitt and Finn were in for a treat.

Johnny Milton owner of Wynnum Marine and his perfect pooch Coco came along for a ride and offered not only boating tips but also how to drive and reverse!! With a long trailer. Johnny and his team have a wide variety of boats of all shapes and sizes to suit everyone no matter the budget.

Today he’s lending us a Stacer 589 Crossfire Rear Console. The perfect all arounder. “It’s the ideal family boat. We gave it the nickname of the marriage saver because it’s really great for the husband or wife to get out on the water fishing solo if they want to and it’s also a really versatile family boat as well, great for a day out on the water with the kids.” Johnny says. “You can learn as much here as you can in the classroom half the time it’s just beautiful.” Johnny continues.

Swimming, snorkeling, fishing and stand-up paddle boarding were all on the agenda. Coco was in puppy heaven chasing his tennis ball into the water. The fish were swimming right up to us and Finn even caught a small bream, which after giving him the old ‘Rex Hunt’ kiss we released back into the water.

By the end of the day the kids were exhausted but had smiles from ear to ear and we all took home priceless memories. A day on the water and fun in the sun.
