Set on 700 acres of Southern Queensland lies one of the state’s premier 4×4 parks… an off-road enthusiast’s dream.
The Springs is just south of Warwick, in Granite Belt country, offering 80 kilometres of graded four-wheel drive trails… plus, a fairly hairy track… that you may have heard of – coined Beer O’clock Hill.
It’s a favourite for owner Lucas, who proudly runs and preserves the park, with his family on-site. You’ll often find Lucas patrolling the grounds in his beloved Patrol… called Battle Axe.
“The biggest thing for me – is the connection with the bush. Coming out here – the wildlife, the bush – then you get to test, like a kid in a sandpit, your machine, your capability –and the build you’ve just done,” Lucas said.
Beer O’clock Hill is one of the hundred different tracks on offer – so the moment you drive in, you’re spoilt for choice. But there’s a few things you can do to get prepared.
ARB’s Air Lockers is one of them. It takes a less capable car to the ultimate four-wheel drive. They operate as a differential lock and are designed to distribute drive to both the left and right wheel on each axle.
It got us out of a few tricky scenarios in the above video – so, you’ll have to check it out!
