Where to go in Vanuatu: Eden on the River and Blue Lagoon

Vanuatu has great fishing but there are other ways to enjoy the water.

Cool down at Eden on the River on the main island of Efate, where there are acres of tropical gardens to wander at your leisure. You can also take a guided tour and taste the different fruits grown on the property. Our favourite was the one that tastes like brown sugar.

If you are looking for some excitement, take the Bridges of Eden tour and safely traverse the suspension bridges, finishing with a mini zip line. Or–if you just want to laze away the day, you can jump in a rubber tube and float down the river. h

Vanuatu is known for its blue lagoon swimming holes and once in Port Villa, you don’t have far to travel to the Blue Lagoon. The clear blue water comes from an underground freshwater spring…but because it is so close to the sea, it’s freshwater at low tide and saltwater at high tide. It is about 60 to 70 metres long, 30 metres wide and approximately six metres deep.

If you’re feeling game, there are a couple of rope swings for everyone in the family to try – great fun at the end of a relaxing day of swimming.
