The Currumbin Wildlife Hospital opened in 1989 and is one of the busiest wildlife hospitals in the world. In 2021 alone, over fourteen thousand animals were admitted.
Many of the injuries suffered by local birds and other wildlife come from discarded fishing line and hooks.
The solution is to safely dispose of used line and hooks in tackle boxes that are located around the Gold Coast and the south east.
You can also aid the hospital by donating funds that can help treat, rehabilitate and release sick, injured and orphaned native wildlife.
