Gary Tips – Filleting Bag

Jagged a feed of Whiting from the Tinnie recently? Well rather than having to scale them when you get back to land, Gary recently showed us a simple idea that will have your Whiting scaled and ready for filleting in no time…and the best bit, you can do it while you’re still out at sea, and not a scale will get into the boat.

You’ll need a large, scaling or mesh bad. Ideally with a drawstring. Pop all your Whiting in the back and tie it shut nice and tight. Attach the bag to a point on your boat with a length of rope. No more than 10-15metres.

Set off at a slow pace, increasing until you can see the bag sits on top of your wake, and you can see the fish tumbling in the bag.

Give that a good 5 minutes behind the boat, and voila, Whiting scaled!
