A roadtrip means adventure. You may only be travelling a couple of hours, or maybe you’ve got a year on the road planned! Either way, when road tripping you want to be comfortable. Recently, we stole Victoria Carthew away from Queensland Weekender to test out one of Jayco’s new Conquest Motorhomes, on a little drive over the boarder to the beautiful Kingscliff.
When we think motorhomes, we often have images of huge vehicles in mind, however you can still downsize the motorhome, without losing any of the comfort.
The Jayco Conquest is based on a Fiat Ducatto, meaning you can drive it with a regular car licence.
You’ve got all the regular mod cons like aircon, a big fridge and 4 burner cooktop …but one of the big sellers is an automated awning. Open up the app on your phone, and you can control it from the comfort of your camp chair.
If you’ve never snuck across the border and checked out Kingscliff, we’d recommend it. It defines the relaxed seaside town image. A long boardwalk stretches for kilometres along the beachfront, then there are dozens of foodie options and kitchy collectable shops on offer.
As far as a place to stay, can we recommend Tweed Holiday Parks Kingscliff Beach. We got a site right on the beachfront, simply amazing. It’s just a short walk to shops, the surf club and bowls club as well. Say g’day to Claire when you’re next there, tell them we sent you!
You can check out the Conquest Motorhome by heading to the Brisbane Camperland website, or even better, go and stand in one yourself! Their show room is in Tingalpa, packed with staff who can show you all the tips and tricks if you’re just taking your first steps into motorhome ownership.
