Scenic Rim Camping at Olive View Estate

How to describe the Scenic Rim? Well you could say it’s a checkerboard of rich volcanic reds and vivid green fields. With plenty of farms and foodie offerings, and colourful characters all keen to say g’day.

Put simply, it’s an absolutely marvelous place to visit and even more so to stay.

Olive View Estate is a 35-acre working olive farm a few minutes northwest of Aratula, right in the heart of the Scenic Rim.

Kate Creasy owns the place, and she’s just opened it up to Hipcamp, after all there’s plenty to do and she’s keen for guests to lend a hand!

“Kids love learning how to pick,” Kate said referring to picking olives straight off the tree. “It’s a hands-on experience and people can meet the animals and get involved with the farm”

“Everyone wants to know where their food is coming from these days and we use organic principals here,” Kate continued. “No sprays, we look after these trees.”

“We have no waste with our trees. We utilise the entire tree from the stems to the leaves to the pits so the leaves when we finish harvesting the fruit, we turn it into Kombucha and it’s actually sold at the Scenic Rim Farm Shop.”

The no waste policy carries over into the camping too with every inch of the property utilized to its best!

“So our back paddocks, they were so overgrown when we came here and we thought this is the most amazing place for people to come camping so we have self-sufficient option,” Kate explained. “People who have their own kit and kaboodle, they can come and stay and we have amazing views from every direction.”

“People can come and ride their bikes and meet the animals and explore the region. We’re right in the heart of the Scenic Rim there’s a lot of things for people to do – especially families.”

While the farm life is very much the focus, there’s a bit of the city too with an area dedicated to restored vintage cars and caravans! The statement piece? A 64 Chevy convertible imported from South Africa.

It’s the ultimate fusion of country and classic!

“I didn’t know how I would mesh my two world’s together but it seems to have just worked!” Katie laughs.

Whether you’re camping via Hipcamp, staying in the beautiful farm house or just visiting for the day, you can enjoy a grazing platter of fresh local produce and be taken for a complimentary joy ride in one of the vintage vehicles!
