Where to Camp this Easter

Camping over the Easter long weekend is a favourite Aussie pastime. After all, it’s not often you get to enjoy a 4-day weekend, so it makes sense to make the most of it!

You might have a spot that you return to year after year, but if you’ve been searching for somewhere new to sleep under the stars then Hipcamp is a great place to start. They’re a digital directory for discovering and booking unique outdoor stays across Australia.

It’s where you’ll find incredible properties like Wynola Country Cousins, just a few minutes from the town of Killareny. The property is around 1600 acres, so there’s plenty of room to spread out and explore!

“There’s no one within 500 metres sometimes even further,” said owner, Bernie who’s a fourth-generation farmer.

“You’re not going to wake up the next morning and find out there’s someone camped right on top of you. So, you’ve got your own stretch of river, your own area to kick the footy and you don’t have to worry about the neighbours.”

Another perk of camping at Wynola is that you get to meet the friendly cows and horses in the paddock. You could say it’s part and parcel of a country camping trip!

Before going off grid, we visited our local BCF store to make sure we were kitted out. There’s always a bit to think of as you get ready to hit the road, so to make things easier, we’ve put together some of the big-ticket items we used:

Campsite Set Up:

While there’s plenty to keep you busy on the property, there’s also a lot of things to see and do nearby! Just up the road is Main Range National Park, known for its impressive waterfalls. Queen Mary Falls is the largest of the lot with an impressive 40-metre drop! Just like camping, it’s important to be prepared before setting off on any kind of hike. We asked Harry from BCF what he wouldn’t leave home without:

Hiking:

After tackling Queen Mary Falls you can pop into the Queen Mary Falls Caravan Park and Café for a delicious bite to eat or tasty cup of coffee! Another highlight of visiting the café is hand feeding the friendly king parrots and crimson rosellas who frequent the café.

Whatever you get up to over the Easter long weekend, we hope it’s a great one for you! And if you’re still searching for holiday ideas, why not have a mosey around the rest of our website for some great outdoor activities!
